“GROUND THE DRONES”

THURSDAY DECEMBER 5TH 7PM

OLYMPIA BROWN UUC 625 COLLEGE AVE. RACINE WI 53403

The use of drones by our US military will be examined in a program that is free and open to the public.

The speaker will be Brian Terrell, a co-coordinator of Voices for Creative Nonviolence.  He will lead a discussion on this emerging threat to our civil liberties, public safety and to peace. Not only are the United States and other governments using drones as instruments of war, diplomacy and “homeland security”, private enterprise is charging into this new and unregulated technology with abandon. We have moved from the arms race of past decades to the international drone race of this decade.

Come to this forum and consider issues ranging from the morality of remote control killing civilians on the other side of the world to your privacy while sun bathing. Unlike nuclear weapons, drones are simple, easy to make, easy to operate and cheap. The smallest country, the least organized terrorist group and even your neighbor can afford a drone. Brian will offer suggestions about how you can make your views about drones known to politicians.
Brian is a co-coordinator of Voices for Creative Nonviolence. He served a six month prison sentence this year for his resistance to the US Air Force drone program. He returned from a month of speaking and working with anti-drone activists in Germany and the United Kingdom on October 22.
